At a time when unity was in high demand, dividers became a necessary sign of the pandemic – a tool that helped keep some restaurants in business. The team at Little Donkey in Cambridge ordered a set of plastic partitions they thought were transparent — but the dividers showed up in an unappetizing shade of black. So they reached out to Joe Taveras on Instagram. The multi-media artist spray-painted the partitions at Little Donkey and Uni and the jersey barriers at Sonsie – using his cubist, neo-expressionist and hip hop-inspired style to transform the black and concrete dividers into art.
